Bridges & Arches

Shotcrete Services has refurbished numerous Victorian built brick bridges and arch structures. The specification of each project differs. Works may include substrate preparation by grit blasting or high pressure water jetting to remove soot, crud and loose material. Generally a new layer of reinforcement fabric mesh is installed prior to the sprayed concrete lining.

Some projects have been completed using steel and polypropylene fibers as an alternative to steel mesh reinforcement.

Often fleece-backed drainage membrane is included within the refurbishment to prevent hydrostatic pressure build-up and drain away water.

The company has also completed Cathodic Protection overlays and viaduct repairs. The removal of defective concrete can be completed as part of the sub-contract package by percussive techniques or hydro-demolition.
